The Kalyna Country Ecomuseum Trust Society will be hosting a festival celebrating the life of Canadian poet and visual artist Andrew Suknaski at the end of the month.
Founder and long-time curator for the Society Jars Balan says that Suknaski, a native of southern Saskatchewan, truly captured the spirit of the Prairies in his literary works.
“Over the course of his poetic career, he wrote numerous books and publications, and performed as well. He really captured the feeling of the Prairies by creating these characters in his poems who spoke in a language that all of us who have travelled in the Prairies, and know the Prairies, will recognize right away.”
The celebration of Andrew Suknaski will take place at the Basilian Fathers Museum in Mundare on Saturday, May 30th at 2pm. The event will include readings of Suknaski’s work, live music, and refreshments.
