Andrew Rural Academy celebrates first full school year

The inaugural year for the Andrew Rural Academy is coming to a close this June. The new institution was put into place after the closure of the Andrew School in 2023.

Offering classes from Kindergarten through Grade 12, the charter school has a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, or STEM, focus.

Principal for the Academy Terrance Prusak says that their first year was filled with learning, challenges, and triumphs.

“This first year was definitely full of transitions, and as we go along here, we’re learning new things all the time as we’ve started basically from scratch. We’re not in any particular school division as a charter school, and we have our own school board and system. We’re implementing all kinds of regular school policies and such right from scratch.”

Prusak goes on to say that the Academy is looking forward to a new school year this September. He also mentions that an open house for those looking to enroll their children in Kindergarten will take place at the school on April 28th from 5:30pm to 7pm.

Those looking to learn more about the Andrew Rural Academy are encouraged to call the school directly at 780-365-7836, as the official website is still under construction.
