The Alberta government is prepped for wildfire season.
Officials have announced that over 550 seasonal firefighters have been hired for this season, with Alberta also having access to hundreds more through mutual aid agreements if they’re needed.
New for 2026 is a Mutual Aid Incentive Pilot.
The program offers municipalities up to 125-thousand dollars to support wildfire response and encourages them to ask for provincial help sooner.
