Alberta referendum voting day: More than 1 million advance, special ballots cast

While polls across Alberta will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday for Referendum Election Day, more than a million Albertans have already cast their ballots.

A total of 1,356,873 advance and special ballots have been cast ahead of the general vote, including more than 837,000 advance votes and 519,000 special ballots.

That represents 43.1 per cent of the 3.15 million eligible electors.

By comparison, during the 2023 provincial election, just under 810,000 advance and special ballots were cast, accounting for 27.5 per cent of eligible voters.

The figures include electors on the List of Electors as well as new registrations.

If you still need to cast your vote, you can find all the information, including where you vote and what to take with you, on the Elections Alberta website.
