Vegreville Votes: Candidate for Councillor Lisa Gegolick

1: Why should people vote for you in this election?
I’m seeking the trust and vote of my community because I care deeply about Vegreville and its future. I believe in growth that supports our local businesses, strengthens opportunities for everyone and keeps our town welcoming and family-friendly. My priority is to make sure Vegreville continues to thrive, not just as a place to do business, but as a place we continue to be proud to call home. I bring a collaborative approach, strong work ethic and a genuine passion for working towards goals I believe in, being a voice for everyone I represent and making decisions that serve the entire community. I want to preserve what makes our town special, while opening doors for new and exciting opportunities. I value common sense, critical thinking and blazing the trail with new ideas and an innovative approach.
I also represent a large majority of our population which is those raising young families, running businesses and supporting aging parents and grandparents, making me an ideal candidate to be a strong voice and speak from experience on many important topics that will come to the table.  I’m eager to continue doing work for good in my community, but in a greater capacity, and provide a fresh perspective for the betterment of Vegreville and the people in it. I am ready, eager, and excited for the possibility of representing the voices of the people in Vegreville that make it the outstanding community it is.
2: If elected, what is one thing you hope to accomplish?
If elected, an overall goal that I am very passionate about is to strengthen community engagement and connection across all ages. I want to create more opportunities for us to come together, learn from each other and grow as a community because I believe this is the door to opportunity. This means facilitating speaking events that inspire action and empower individuals and families to make informed decisions on important topics that directly effect how we show up in our homes and in our community. I have the dream of working on community boards that can facilitate mentorship programs that connect youth with experienced residents and entrepreneurs, and expanding community activities and programming for all. I believe that when people feel supported by and connected to their community they are more likely to invest in it, live and work here, and raise their family here which benefits every other area of a community’s social, cultural and economic growth and development. Ultimately, I will always encourage council and administration to keep the best interests of Vegreville’s residents at the forefront of every decision, while thinking outside the box and finding new and effective ways to unite our businesses, families, elders and youth.
