Cold Lake City Council has approved its first Childcare Space Incentive Grant, awarding $30,000 to Haven Childcare, set to open with 24 licensed spaces.
The grant program, launched in June, offers $1,500 per new space to support local providers. Mayor Craig Copeland says it’s a promising step toward easing childcare shortages. Council has funded up to 100 new spaces, with more applications expected soon.
