The federal election is still being counted, but locally, two Conservative MPs are heading back to Ottawa.
Shannon Stubbs won re-election in Lakeland with over 80% of the vote, while Laila Goodridge won by a similar margin in Fort McMurray–Cold Lake.
Liberal candidates in both ridings trailed far behind, pulling in just over 11 and 14 percent.
Voter turnout was strong—around 67 percent in Lakeland and nearly 61 percent in Fort McMurray–Cold Lake, not counting same-day registrations.
Elections Canada says final counts are wrapping up, but the local results are clear.
