Election Night Results Coming In

As ballots continue to be counted across Alberta, we have some updated riding numbers from polling stations across the province.

In Grande Prairie, Conservative MP Chris Warkentin holds an early lead with 3129 votes. Liberal Maureen McLeod has 258. NDP candidate Jennifer Villebrun has 97 votes, People’s Party of Canada candidate Shawn McLean with 68. Independent Elliott McDavid has 19 while Donovan Eckstrom of the Rhinoceros Party has 16.

Lethbridge incumbent and Conservative Party of Canada candidate Rachael Thomas has taken an early lead with 12202 votes. Liberal Party of Canada candidate Chris Spearman has 5610 votes, Marc Slingerland of the Christian Heritage Party has 372, People’s Party of Canada candidate Clara Piedalue has picked up 145 votes, NDP candidate Nathan Svoboda has 639 votes and Amber Murray of the Green Party has 123.

In Lakeland, Conservative Party of Canada candidate and incumbent Shannon Stubbs, has picked up 812 votes for the lead there. NDP candidate Des Bissonnette has 63 votes while Liberal candidate Barry Milaney has 150. People’s Party candidate Michael Manchen has 13 votes while Christian Heritage Party candidate Michael Speirs has picked up 4. Bridget Burns of the Green Party has 5 votes.

UPDATE 9:42PM

While the count continues in the Lakeland and Fort McMurray-Cold Lake ridings, it’s being projected that both incumbents will be heading back to Ottawa.

As of 9:21 p.m. in Lakeland, 30 out of 246 polls are reporting with Conservative incumbent Shannon Stubbs receiving 4,461 votes, nearly 3,736 votes more than Liberal candidate Barry Milaney, who has 725 votes.

In the Fort McMurray-Cold Lake, 57 out of 220 polls are reporting, with Conservative incumbent Laila Goodridge receiving 8,734 votes, nearly 7,086 more than Liberal Candidate Kaitlyn Staines, who has 1,648 votes.
