Town Of Smoky Lake Issues Fire Ban Effective Immediately

Due to extreme fire hazard conditions the Town of Smoky Lake has now issued a fire ban, replacing the fire restriction that was previously in place. A fire ban means that absolutely no outdoor fires are permitted at this time, including open fires, wood campfires, brush piles, and burning barrels. The use of fireworks also remains prohibited at this time. Gas fueled barbecues with lids, liquid fueled camping stoves and designated fire pits will be allowed.

The Town of Smoky Lake urges everyone to use extreme caution when working or driving in grassy areas, be mindful of hot exhaust and keep vehicles clean and free of debris as smoldering debris can fall off and start fires.

The fire ban will remain in effect until fire hazard conditions improve significantly.

For more information, please contact the Town of Smoky Lake at 780-656-3674. To keep up-to-date on current fire bans or restrictions, please visit www.albertafirebans.ca.
