Small Methane Leak Located In Bonnyville May Lead To The Removal Of Several Homes

A small methane leak from an orphan well in Bonnyville may lead to some homes being demolished to fix the issue. The Orphan Well Association (OWA) is monitoring the area and has installed equipment to reduce methane levels. OWA president Lars De Pauw says decommissioning plans are being finalized, but several homes may need to be removed to access the well. Ongoing testing is being done to ensure safety, and the OWA is working with residents to address their preferences during the process. The timeline depends on when homes are purchased and removed for the decommissioning.
