Vegreville Wranglers Win Pool A, Suffer Overtime Loss In Semifinals Of U18 Tier 2 Provincials In Olds

The Vegreville Wranglers saw their season come to an end in the semifinals of Hockey Alberta’s U18 Tier 2 Provincial Championship tournament.
Vegreville had made it to the semifinals by going 3-1 in preliminary round play to win Pool A.
Wranglers Head Coach Trevor Ogrodnick says they avenged a loss to Fairview in last year’s provincial finals by beating the Falcons 6-4 on Thursday, they got past Calgary’s Glenlake Hawks 2-1 on Friday, and then they outscored the host team – the Olds Grizzlys – 6-1 on Saturday.
Ogrodnick breaks down their 3-2 overtime loss the Hanna Colts in the semifinals of the U18 Tier 2 Provinicals.
Ogrodnick says the team earned more valuable experience at the provincial tourney.
His very proud of how the boys played at provincials.
Vegreville forward Max Kokotyn wound up tied with Fairview’s Hunter Burns for the tournament lead in goals at provincials. They both had 7 but Kokotyn did it in 4 games while Burns played 5.
The Hanna Colts would go on to win the U18 Tier 2 Provincial banner by outlasting the Fairview Falcons 2-1 in overtime in the championship game at the Olds SportsComplex on Sunday, March 31st.
