Snakes Hit The Road For Season-Ending Weekend

The final weekend of the Canadian American Junior Hockey League season is upon us and the Vegreville Vipers close out the year as road warriors. They’ll visit Barrhead tonight before games in Stavely against the Mustangs on Saturday and Sunday. The Vipers are locked into third place but their first round opponent will be decided this weekend. They’ll face either the Hinton Timberwolves or the Cold Lake Aeroes. Landon Kupsch is looking to keep his hot streak rolling going into the weekend. Since re-joining the team last month, Kupsch has put up 57 points in just ten games. He says he was always excited about a return to the Snake Pit.

Dawson Bilyk has also been enjoying quite the season. The local product recently passed the century mark in points on the year and was revealed as the Vipers nominee for the CAJHL’s Forward Of The Year award earlier this week. Bilyk says those he shares the ice with are a big part of his success.

The Vipers and Bombers drop the puck tonight in Barrhead at 8:30 pm. One other game on the league schedule sees Hinton hosting Cold Lake. The Timberwolves lead the Aeros by one point for top spot in the league standings.
