One of five tour stops last week for the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association was the Bonnyville Pro Rodeo which ran from Thursday through Saturday (June 6-8).
Unofficial major event winners in Bonnyville included Clint Laye from Cadogan in bareback (85 points), Landon Beardsworth from Red Deer County in steer wrestling (3.9 seconds), Kyle Lucas from Carstairs in tie town roping (9.5 seconds), Brooke Wills from British Columbia in barrel racing (16.81 seconds), Beau Gardner from Arrowwood in bull riding (87 points), and the tandem of Levi Pittigrew from Oklahoma along with Joe Beaver from Texas in team roping (4.6 seconds).
Unofficially there were one-two splits in two of the major events. Lucas Macza from High River and Layton Green from Millarville both had 85 and a half point rides in saddle bronc, while Kendal Pierson from Wardlow and Jessi Everett from Texas both got the job done in 2.7 seconds in breakaway roping.
On the Pro Rodeo Canada agenda this week are saddle bronc only events in Gleichen on Wednesday (June 12), and Wildwood on Saturday (June 15).
CPRA cowboys and cowgirls will head to Stavely from Thursday until Saturday (June 13-15) and the Daines Ranch just north of Innisfail from Friday throught Sunday (June 14-16) for full pro rodeo events.
