The provincial government is investing seven-hundred-and-twenty-thousand dollars to support restorative justice services across Alberta.
The funding announced by Justice Minister Mickey Amery is available through the Alberta Restorative Justice Grant for community organizations, municipalities, Indigenous communities and youth justice committees.
Amery says restorative justice can help people affected by crime, those responsible, along with community members as they address the impacts of an offence and find a path forward outside the traditional court process. He notes it is used when believed to be an appropriate option.
Individual grants of up to fifty-thousand dollars are available.
Applications are open until October seventh.
