The Vegreville Minor Soccer Association is gearing up to host the U15 and U19 Lakeland Cup Tournament this June. Registrar and Communications Director for the Association Shelley Berry says that in addition to the excitement of hosting the Lakeland Cup Tournament, the organization was thrilled to receive funding from the Town of Vegreville in the form of the Local Sports and Events Hosting Grant. The Grant is intended to financially assist groups, teams, leagues and organizations that bring visitors, including participants, attendees, and spectators to Vegreville through tournaments, events, or competitions. Berry says that this Grant will certainly help off-set any additional costs of hosting the Tournament.
She also adds that an event like the Lakeland Cup Tournament would not be possible without the help of parents and volunteers.
The Lakeland Cup Tournament is a three day event beginning on Friday June 21st and will feature the Vegreville Thunder U15 Boys and Girls team, as well as the U19 Girls team.
