The province is preparing to meet with local agricultural societies to talk about future funding. This follows a $7.4 million announcement last week for seven major ag societies, including those in Lloydminster, Red Deer, and Grande Prairie. Each group will get help managing rising costs and support to plan for a more sustainable future.Â
Agriculture Minister RJ Sigurdson says inflation has made it harder for societies to keep up with expenses. Smaller societies, like Cold Lake’s, are also feeling the pressure but haven’t received extra funding yet. The province says it’s ready to start discussions to find ways to keep rural events and facilities strong for years to come.Â
