Farmland prices are still climbing across Canada

Farmland prices are still climbing across Canada, according to a new report from Farm Credit Canada.

In 2024, the national average rose by 9.3 per cent, with Alberta farmland up 7.1 per cent. In the Lakeland area, local realtors say prices vary by land quality. In Cold Lake and Bonnyville, good farmland averages around $2,000 an acre, while in St. Paul, prime land can hit $4,000.

Strong demand from local and corporate farms, plus limited supply, are keeping values high—and the trend doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon.
