‘Buy Local’ campaign launches in Alberta

Alberta’s Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation launched the provincial government’s ‘Buy Local’ campaign on Monday in Edmonton.

RJ Sigurdson notes that this campaign will complement the ‘Made in Alberta’ voluntary food and beverage labeling program to support local agriculture and food sectors that the province began in March of 2023.

He says, “more than 800 locally made products display the label in Alberta stores, and the Association continues to build momentum to further expand the program.

The ‘Buy Local’ campaign draws attention to these local products, making it easier for consumers to choose local.”

Sigurdson pointed out that they are pleased that the recent U.S. announcement about tariffs did not include the ag industry.

However, he adds, this is still a critical time for our province as well as our farmers, ranchers, processors, and their families.
