Highlighting rural healthcare with Alberta Rural Health Week

With healthcare on the minds of many Canadians and at home here in Alberta, the province is preparing to celebrate the professionals and community initiatives that help strengthen our local healthcare system with the annually recognized Alberta Rural Health Week.

Running from May 26th to 30th, the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, or RhPAP, invites communities, organizations, and individuals from across the province to show appreciation for our healthcare professionals and the volunteers whose dedication continues to enhance the well-being of rural residents.

Rural Community Consultant for the East Central Zone of RhPAP Anya Langkow says that it’s more important than ever to continue discussions about the healthcare needs of all Albertans, but especially in rural areas, where access to care may be limited.

Here in Vegreville, our local Attraction and Retention Committee works closely with the County of Minburn and RhPAP to implement strategies to help attract and retain healthcare workers to our region. For more information on rural committees in your area, or to get involved or participate in Alberta Rural Health Week, you can check out an online toolkit provided by RhPAP by clicking here or by visiting rhpap.ca.
