The Vegreville Visitor Information Centre is now open for the season.
Opening day was on Thursday, May 2nd. It is located at 4500 Pysanka Avenue.
Michelle Gladys, Tourism Coordinator with the Town of Vegreville, notes they will be very busy this year with lots of activities happening down at the park. She says “We get lots of people stopping at the park on their way through, whether they are on their way to a different destination and this is part of their stop because they want to come see the Pysanka. That is a big part of the attraction to our park, obviously. Our staff are on site there ready to great all of our tourists, and everybody coming through and assist their needs in any way possible, whether it is taking a picture with the Pysanka or giving them some travel advise and helping them along their way. That is a big part of what we do down at the park.”
Gladys says the Visitor Information Centre is open Monday through Wednesday from 9am until 5pm. Hours of operation are a little longer on the weekends as from Thursday through Sunday they are open from 9am until 8pm.
She adds, new for 2024 is the fact that they will have hard ice cream for sale. Gladys says “Some of the things we have seen in the past. Some of it is new but we still do have the borrow-a-bike program. We do have paddle boat rentals. Those are $5 dollars per boat ride. They are not out yet, it is a little bit too chilly. So we are going to wait until later in the month of May or possibly beginning in June. It is just totally weather dependent. They are new paddle boats this year so hopefully they will be a nice smooth ride. We also have the 9-hole mini golf, that will be opening in June and they will be full of new custom obstacles on each course.”
