On April 23rd, 2024 the Municipal District of Bonnyville declared a State of Local Emergency at 12:52pm due to a wildfire that began on Cold Lake First Nations on April 22nd. As of 3:05pm yesterday, what began as a localized Evacuation Order has now been downgraded to an Evacuation Alert. The State of Local Emergency currently remains in effect. This decision comes after careful consideration of the fire and current fire conditions. The fire is currently located near Range Road 432, south of Highway 28. It has not yet crossed into the Municipal District. Officials will continue to monitor the fire and weather conditions.

Residents in the area are asked to be vigilant and be on standby for a possible evacuation.
