WHL Conference Finals Set To Begin On April 26

The Western Hockey League’s conference final match ups have been determined.

The Eastern Conference Final will pit the top seeded Saskatoon Blades against the third seeded Moose Jaw Warriors. The Warriors finished 14 points back of the Blades during the regular season. Saskatoon swept Red Deer in the conference semifinals, while Moose Jaw needed 5 games to eliminate the Swift Current Broncos. The Warriors won 4-2 at home on Friday to take the conference semifinal series from the Broncos 4 games to one. 19 year old forward Jagger Firkus from Irma had a hat trick in Game 5 and he now sits second in both goals with 9, and points with 18 through just 9 games during this year’s WHL playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Western Conference Final will see the top seeded Prince George Cougars face off with the second seeded Portland Winterhawks. The Winterhawks finished 1 point behind the Cougars during the regular season. In the conference semifinals, Prince George disposed of the Kelowna Rockets in 5 games, while Portland swept the Everett Silvertips.

The conference finals will begin on Friday, April 26th in Saskatoon and Prince George respectively.
